Stories of Deception Planning began to be published in the 1950s, and in 1959 DW was allowed to publish a book describing how he came to write his ‘War Papers’ in 1940-1941. At the back of the book there was also a very short chapter which briefly discussed his activities as a deception planner in the second half of the War.

The book received considerable publicity, and mixed reviews.

To celebrate its launch, and to commemorate 25 years as a bestselling author, DW threw a party at Justerinis for his wartime colleagues, other friends and influential members of the book trade.

The party was held on 29th January 1959, and was a tremendous success.
