DW’s fiftieth book, ‘They Used Dark Forces’, published in 1964, was a special cause for celebration.
On 15th September a drinks party was held at Justerini and Brooks, and on 20th November a more select dinner was held at the Garrick Club. The guests included lifelong friends Joe Links and ‘Bobby’ Eastaugh, then Bishop of Peterborough, and wartime friends such as Johnny Bevan and the Duke of Richmond.
