DW's next book was to be an espionage novel set in Turkey, and for it he had an interesting technical adviser - George A Hill, who was to become the dedicatee of the book.
Hill had been among other things a secret agent in Bolshevik Russia, and DW described him as one of the most interesting men he had ever met. For DW's account of Hill, click here.
'The Eunuch' was the second of DW's books to be filmed, under the title 'The Secret of Stamboul'.
