One of these was Mr W.V. Bell. Mr Bell worked initially with the Joint Planning Staff and then with the London Controlling Section in the basement fortress, and there he seems to have been particularly close to Dennis Wheatley. Mr Bell retained a small, but extremely interesting, collection of materials dating from this period, which I am pleased to display courtesy of one of his relatives, who very kindly got in touch with me. Above you will see various items from his collection, including two of Mr Bell's wartime security passes, the letters of thanks for his war-time service from 'Pug' Ismay and Johnny Bevan, his invitation to Lady Jane Pleydell-Bouverie's wedding (she was Johnny Bevan's P/A during the later stages of the war), and an item of his post-war correspondence with Dennis Wheatley.
