As would be expected of someone who served in both World Wars, and who was at the heart of Strategic Planning in the last few years of World War Two, DW was a discriminating reader of books on Military History.

Here to illustrate this are copies of three of the books from that section of his Library – the first, like a number of others in his Library – was used by DW in writing his War Papers, and therefore used with the utmost seriousness in his (successful) endeavours to help the Chiefs of Staff win the War.
