DW’s set of ‘The Dictionary of National Biography’

As is to be expected, DW’s Library contained its fair share of reference books, from Roget’s Thesaurus onwards.

In amongst this section was DW’s twenty three volume set of ‘The Dictionary of National Biography’.

Curiously, while of not much interest now, when Blackwell’s prepared their catalogue, of the 2,274 items listed, this was somehow the 17th most expensive.
