'The Forbidden Territory' was published on 3rd January 1933.
Although accounts vary, the initial print run was for around 1,250 copies, and in the last 450 of these the binders forgot to put in DW's illustrated endpapers. They were shipped out without them.
Demand was such that the book was reprinted seven times in as many weeks.
The copy illustrated above belonged to DW, and was sent to Christina Foyle shortly before DW's death.
