Dear Anthony Lejeune,
This is just a line to thank you for the magnificent article you have so kindly done about me for 'Books and Bookmen'. I know that you have long enjoyed my stories, but the encyclopaedic knowledge you display of them is a really great tribute.
I was particularly touched (?) by your passage "... he believes in goodness and honour, in courage and loyalty and endurance." Because that is absolutely true, and in this present age it seems more than ever necessary to endeavour to install such sentiments into young people by the example of fiction heroes.
I shall be in London most of October, so we must meet again; perhaps you could lunch with me, anyhow if you'll send me you
In the meantime I'm sending you an autographed copy of the 'Sultan's Daughter' as a very small 'thank you'.
Kindest thoughts,
Dennis Wheatley
